A Moral Issue

** DISCLAIMER- I really hate controversy and this blog is not trying to pick a fight with anyone. If you do not believe that marriage should only be between a man and woman, then there is no reason to read the rest of this blog.

I've been meaning to blog about this for a few days now but haven't gotten around to doing it. My mom recently posted a blog about this, so check out hers if you are interested because I'm sure she can get the point across better than I can. When I went to California last week, I was informed more about propostion 8. For those of you who don't know what this is, it's a proposition stating that marriage is between a man and a woman, and it will either get passed or rejected in November. I thought that it was inevitable that this proposition would eventually get rejected (meaning homosexuals can get married), but was informed that the battle is not over yet and that I need to keep fighting. I have nothing against homosexual people and have had friends in the past who are homosexual. However, I do believe that this is more of a moral issue than a political issue, as I do believe in God and the Bible, which clearly states that acting on homosexual tendencies is wrong. I am NOT anti-gay or anything like that, but I do believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman and that that's the way it has been since the beginning. I have recently become very passionate about this subject, because even though I don't currently live in California, I did want to go back there someday and I am starting to feel like I don't ever want to live there again. If this proposition does not get passed, I feel that the rest of the nation will fall quickly behind it and I am scared for the things that my children will be learning in school, listening to on the radio, and watching on TV, etc. I am even more scared of what might happen years from now to people who are religious and are "discriminating" against homosexuals because they don't believe in marriage between homosexuals. Could it be possible that people who believe in God and the Bible are going to be considered the "evil" ones in this nation? I try not to talk about too many religious issues in my blog because I realize that not everyone who checks this has the same beliefs that I do, but this is my opinion. Anywho, check out my mom's blog if you are promarriage between a man and a woman and see what you can do to help. If you are as passionate about this as I am, feel free to blog about it yourself and let others know.

Thanks for this post, Maran. It is a touchy subject. It's hard to stand up for what you believe in any more, without sounding fanatical, but you really wrote it well. Its a big issue, one that really makes me nervous. I agree with what you said about being considered the "evil" ones. It's turned around where wrong is right and right is wrong. EVERYTHING can be justified if we reason long enough...who's to say any of our laws are safe...like murder or stealing, etc. I know that's extreme, but to me, God has set laws aside since the beginning of time, and thats whats being attacked first. Once we take him completely out of the picture in this country, there is nothing left to save us from destruction. It will happen. It's scary...thanks for your post.

I agree it's interesting how satan turns things around and gets people confused into thinking that what is moral is evil. Lame. Well, I say ditto to you.

Thanks Maran for blogging on this issue. You are right about judgement being placed on those who believe in God. I read a comment on YouTube in response to a "vote No on 8" video saying that "religious fanatics are forcing their views on others". But it is not "our view", its God's. Hopefully others reading your blog will go to protectmarriage.com or blog about this issue. Love ya Mom
