Reading and Writing!

I haven't blogged in the past week because I have been reading this:

That's right...I finally started reading the Twilight series. After I read the Harry Potter books, I told myself that I would have to read the Book of Mormon straight through before I could read another book. It took me over three months to read it, but I did it. The Book of Mormon is definitely harder to read than many other books, which is why it took me so long to read, but it was so worth it. I got so much more out of it this time than I have any other time I've read it. I understood more and grew a deep love for that book. The Book of Mormon is over 5oo pages, and the sad thing is that I finished it last Sunday and started the Twilight series and have already finished the first two books and am well into the third one. Each book is also over 5oo pages (granted, The Book of Mormon has a lot more words on one page, but still). So yeah, it took me over three months to read The Book of Mormon and it will probably be about a week and half by the time I finish all 3 of the Twilight books.

Why is this? Because I'm a sucker for romance. Seriously, there's something intriguing about an extremely hot vampire who is SO in love with a human being but also wants to suck her blood at the same time. It's very interesting. I will admit that I get annoyed with some of the characters in the book and I took a break tonight to write a blog because I just don't understand why Bella keeps running back to Jacob when she has Edward (who is WAY too over protective in my opinion, but hey, if you like that kind of thing). Even though I get annoyed with some of the characters, I just can't seem to put the book down. The author of this book is very good at keeping her readers interested, which is why she has sold millions of copies.

Why are some people lucky/smart enough to write interesting books, like the Harry Potter series and the Twilight series, and become filthy rich off of them? I want to become filthy rich off of a series and make it into a movie. I used to love to write stories as a child (I had a really good one about quintuplets that I believe was over 100 hand written pages long), but somewhere along my path of life I lost my imagination and couldn't think of things to write about. In fact, English was generally my least favorite subject in high school because I hated reading the books that were assigned. But anyway, I would love to think of some awesome action/romance story that I could write a few novels about. Let's be honest, even if I had a good subject, I'm not an awesome writer, so it would never work out. But hey, if you have any good ideas on a good subject for a novel, shout them out:)

Maran, I know why you can't stop reading those books - there is CRACK in the pages. I promise. There must be. That's the only explanation for why those books can just totally suck you in. Like you said I would get annoyed at some of the characters, Bella mainly, but still could not put it down.

If you like those then you should definitely read Stephenie Meyer's other book, not in the Twilight series, The Host. I liked it even BETTER than the Twilight ones!!

So glad you jumped on the twilight bandwagon! I agree Bellea and Jacob irritate the heck out of me in Eclipse, but I still can't get enough of Edward.

Totally with on on the Twilight thing...sickeningly addicting and the characters get annoying at times. Man, I can't WAIT for the 4th book and then the movie!!!!

Maran, the BoM took longer because it is a lot deeper than the novels. You don't have to think much about them and are totally entertained. But you do need to digest what you read in the BoM. So, congrats on finishing it in three months. In my opinion that is awesome.
Looks like I might have to look into that Twilight series. Do you think I would like it? At least I would understand who Bella is.

YEA! I'm so glad you finally read them! I knew you'd love them. I just finished her new book, The Host, and I loved it. Not as much, or in the same way, there will never be another Edward kind of love for me, but it was still great! :) However, I must say, I am so so so proud of you for finishing the Book of Mormon first. You are a great example to me. Thanks for that. I loved your comment about how we can read these huge novels in a matter of weeks, and it takes forever to finish the Book of Mormon. But your mom is right, its deeper, more insight. Meant for pondering. So three months is a definite accomplishment.
I really need to pre-order Breaking Dawn, the 4th and final book of the Twilight Series being released in August. Maybe I should attempt to finish the Book of Mormon before then. That would be great!

I bought those books for our trip back east last October. I thought, "I'll only bring the first one because I probably won't even finish that." Well, I only had one chapter left when I got off the plane (only because I flew by myself for most of it.) I ended up reading it again on the way home. It's a very easy read and it does suck you in (even 34 year olds).
However, like everyone else said, Bella annoys me--- but I still can't wait for book 4. I'm interested to see how she ends it.
Great job on reading the BofM! That's awesome!

I guess it's time for me to read the second and third books. I read the first book and it was great but I could never get my hands on book 2 at the library. It is always checked out. I guess I should pay the $1 hold fee so I can finish it. Congrats on reading the BOM in 3 months. That's impressive!
