Do you have the Harry Potter fever?

Well this last week I have heard more about Harry Potter on the news than I have about anything else. It's huge here in Utah (as I'm sure it is in most of the country). On Friday night, Scott and I went to Borders around 6:00pm and saw some kids already dressed up in Harry Potter outfits for the 12am book party (in case you didn't know, the last book came out on Saturday). On Saturday, Scott and I went to see the new Harry Potter movie that also recently came out. It was the first time we have seen a movie alone together since Hannah has been born. Thanks to Hollie, we were able to spend some time alone together and enjoy a great movie! On Sunday morning I talked to a girl at church who had gotten the book on Saturday afternoon and was already 400 pages into it. Some people go crazy for this stuff!! We have all the books and Scott might be getting the last one for his birthday ;) but I have not read any of them. I really want to read them all, especially since the last book came out but it's really hard to find time with going to school. I guess the movies will have to do for now. Anyway, this is the last time I will write before we go to California. It will be so nice to be on vacation!!!!!!!!!!!

Too Good To Be True

About 8 months ago, Scott and I were using Vonage, which is a home telephone service that gives you 500 minutes a month anywhere in the US, call waiting, Caller ID, and voicemail for only 15 bucks a month. The reason it's so cheap is because the phone is connected to our internet, so we always have to have internet for it to work. We thought that was a pretty good deal. Soon after, we found SunRocket, which is basically the same type of service as Vonage but only 8 dollars a month. We thought, 'Wow, that's pretty awesome.' The only catch was that we had to prepay for 2 years worth of service. We thought it was worth it. To our luck, we found out this week that SunRocket has now gone bankrupt and we might not get our money back. Luckily, it's not a whole lot of money that we are losing out on. We've decided to switch back to Vonage, which is still a good deal and if they happen to go bankrupt, at least we aren't prepaying (by the way, if for some reason you are planning on calling our house phone tomorrow it will not be working so call our cell phones). Since I've been an adult and have had to make decisions on my own, I've realized that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Another example of this would have to be some baby wipes I bought the other day. Only 79 cents for 80 wipes seems like a good deal, right? Well the wipes are about as thin as a piece of hair so I have to use about 10 of them on Hannah's bottom each time and their smell will haunt me forever. Once again, too good to be true. Why do I buy into these cheap, no good products? Sometimes it's just better to pay a little extra to get good quality. So anyway, the moral of the story is, as already stated, if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.

Chuck E. Cheese's and a tooth!!

Had to throw in a picture of Hannah watching the Laurie Berkner band! She loves it!!

Last Friday Hannah and I went to Chuck E. Cheese's with Hollie and Jennifer and their kids. I think Hannah had a lot of fun riding some of the free rides!! I don't remember if I've ever been to Chuck E Cheese before. It didn't really look familiar to me but it is a fun little place where kids can run wild. I was really sad to see the plastic balls gone. Even if I haven't been to Chuck E. Cheese's before I did know that they had a big thing of balls to jump into. On Saturday I was able to hang out with Hollie and Jennifer and their families for a little bit at the park. It was really fun to watch the kids play one of my favorite child hood games, Steal the Bacon. We had to say goodbye to Jen and her family, but luckily we will see them again in just a couple of weeks.

Onto some news......Hannah's first tooth broke through yesterday. I actually couldn't believe it because she hasn't even shown any sign of getting a tooth. She doesn't have a runny nose or fever and she's been sleeping well again through the night. Our little girl is growing up so fast!!!

Happy 9 months!!

Here are some 9 month old pictures I took yesterday in front of our huge bush. I didn't realize until after I took them that Hannah has food crusted on her face.

Hannah turned 9 months yesterday! She is growing up so fast. We went to the Doctor's appointment again and here are her stats.

16 lbs 8 oz which is only 12th%
26 and 3/4 inches tall which is 21st%

She was 26 inches at her 6 month appointment so she only grew 3/4 of an inch in 3 months and a pound and a half. The doctor didn't seem too worried about it, though. It's funny because she looks chubby in a lot of her pictures but she's actually quite little. She still doesn't have any teeth or crawl yet, but she is getting close to both. She can definitely get around the room if she wants to. One thing we found out yesterday after they took her blood is that she's anemic. We have to feed her some drops of iron with orange juice for the next six weeks. I am also loading on the meat in her diet so she can get her iron levels back up to normal. Overall, she's a wonderful baby to have and I think she is at a very cute stage in her life.

On to a new subject, this past week was a fun one for us. Scott's dad came into town last Thursday and was able to stay with us until Sunday morning. We went to 7 Peaks with him, (a water park, in case you didn't know) out to dinner a few times, and shopping. It was really great to have him in town. Scott's mom, step-dad, and brother all drove in on Saturday to be here on Sunday for church. They weren't even here for 24 hours before they had to turn around and drive back home again. It really meant a lot to us for them to drive all the way out here. On Sunday we went to our new ward. Scott got sustained to be in the Bishopric. There aren't very many kids in the ward because it's summer time, but fall should be pretty busy. Something interesting that happened during Sacrament meeting was that an old man fell off the platform he was sitting on during someone's talk because his chair was too close to the edge. It scared us all half to death, but luckily he was okay. This week has been hard for us to get back into school and work. Only a couple of more weeks until our next vacation!!!

Happy Independence Day!!!

We had a great 4th of July. On Tuesday night, Hollie and Jarin and their kids came over and watched Harry Potter while Hollie and I got some ice cream together. After the movie, Jarin and the kids slept on our front lawn in a tent so they could get up bright and early for the parade. At about 3am I got up to go the bathroom only to hear the sound of the sprinklers on our front lawn going off. Whoops....luckily, Jarin was able to turn them off without getting completely soaked (sorry about that again). Yesterday morning we got up early to go to the parade. It's a huge deal around here, but to be honest, I don't really know why. It's basically the same thing every year and half the time the kids aren't even watching it. I guess it's fun for the experience and memories, though. I love that everyone around here is so patriotic. Here are some pictures from the parade.

The girls! Too bad we were missing Allie and Sam.

Most of the kids at the parade.

Family pic

This was the day before the parade but I thought it was really cute of Ella and Hannah.

Last night we went over to Aunt Jo's for a BBQ. The boys played Guitar Hero most of the time, which happens to be Scott's current favorite video game. Normally it's the young kids that are waiting their turn to play, but in this case it was mostly the big boys. It was kind of funny to watch. We came home pretty early because Hannah needed to go to bed, so we didn't get to watch any fire works.....hopefully next year, though, because that is usually my favorite part of the 4th. I hope you all had a wonderful day yesterday!!

New Calling, New Sleep Schedule

Well a couple of months ago Scott got released from his calling in the ward and hasn't had one since. I kept having this feeling he was going to get called into the Bishopric (which is a pretty time consuming calling, for those of you who might not know what that is) but didn't tell him because my feelings are usually wrong. Last week we got called into our Bishop's office and were called to be Family History Consultants. I thought to myself 'well, I guess my feeling was wrong again' but was excited we weren't called to be Gospel Doctrine teachers, which was another thought that crossed through my mind. Then, this past Wednesday we got a call from the BYU 2nd stake to come in for an interview and yesterday Scott was called to be the 2nd counselor in the Bishopric of a BYU singles ward. We will have to be released from our Family History calling that we just got last week, but we are excited to go to a new ward. It will be weird to be with a bunch of single people, but I think it will be fun, too. I'm sure Hannah will have a lot of babysitters if she wants them. Scott will be sustained next Sunday and the Stake President asked us to just keep this between family right now, but I figured pretty much everyone that checks this is family so I think it's OK.

On to a new topic....just when you think you have your baby trained, something happens and she starts waking up again at night. We've had Hannah sleeping a good 10-12 straight hours almost every night for the past two months but recently she has been waking up screaming at the top of her lungs. Sometimes it's because she's rolled over into a position that looks really uncomfortable, but other times I'm just not sure. She still has no teeth, so I'm wondering if that's the problem. Her gums don't look swollen to me, though, but she did have a fever this weekend but no runny nose. Anyway, sometimes I just feel like I never know what is going on with her. I just hope she doesn't make a habit of waking up in the middle of the night again.

Well, I am excited for this week to come. I love July 4th! We have Jennifer in town for two weeks and Scott's dad coming in town at the end of this week for a couple of days. It's always fun to see family! We hope ya'll have a great week!
