Learning to Read

Whoops, didn't write yesterday. Mom, I'm pretty sure you're the only one checking my blog these days anyway, so this is for you! I've been really lucky with Hannah because she's always been really eager to learn. I haven't had to push her much yet. Even with potty training, she practically taught herself. And she didn't use pull ups ever at night either. I don't expect to get this lucky with Bailey and Brynn, but I certainly hope I do. I hope this trait continues with Hannah throughout her life, though. Right now, she's been really eager to learn how to read/sound out words. She often asks me how to spell something or she'll try to sound out things by herself. I'm teaching her three letter words right now. Anything more than that might just have to wait. I didn't realize how complicating teaching a child how to read could be. There are so many rules to the English language that I never even thought about before this process. But again, Hannah is trying her best to learn. At this rate, she could be reading like a pro before kindergarten (though I realize it's not a race). Pretty sure I didn't learn how to read until I was like 6 or 7, but I guess things have changed a bit since then. Here's a video of her reading a word.

Yay Hannah!! My speakers aren't connected yet so I didn't get to hear her read but I imagined it and she did awesome :) I just started a Hooked on Phonics program today with Allie. She is so excited to learn to read (mainly because a Jessie doll is sitting on the top of the fridge waiting for Allie to meet her goal).
