Today we went to a stake activity at Rock Canyon Park. I didn't even know this park existed but it's really nice. At the activity, they had a long slide that a lot of the kids slid down. It looked like a lot of fun and had I known to wear my swimsuit I would have gone down it.
Here are some of the kids in Scott's ward. It's been fun trying to get to know some of them. They all love Hannah!
Scott and the bishop had to do karaoke in front of the whole stake. They were both extremely nervous before going and were glad to get it over with. Scott was lucky that he only had to pretend to play the guitar. The bishop sang by himself and did a great job!
On to a new subject.....Hannah has grown into our little oinker. This is the sign we are constantly seeing these days. It means "more," in case you didn't know (and she has a cracker stuffed in her mouth). She eats SOOO much! It just started happening recently and I don't know how much we are supposed to give an 11 month old to eat but she seems to eat a lot. I'm guessing she's going through a growth spurt. Here are some examples: A few nights ago we had pizza for dinner and normally we don't give her greasy food like that but we decided to this one night. She ate a whole piece of pizza (minus the crust) plus about a forth a can of green beans. The next night she ate a whole piece of tenderloin chicken, some spaghetti, and a half can of green beans. Tonight she had 3 jars of baby food for dinner and was still asking for more (so I gave her a cracker and a few bites of my dinner). I don't really know what to do. I guess I have watched too many Mauri Povich shows entitled, "My 2 year old is 100 pounds." I get worried that I am over feeding her but she keeps asking for more, and I definitely don't want to starve her either. Any advice on what to do? I suppose I should just feed her until she is full, but it never seems like she is full. She's like a little puppy drooling for food. I guess the good thing is that she usually eats whatever I put in front of her, even if it's vegetables (although we found out tonight that she no longer likes carrots). On top of her eating a lot, she eats faster than anybody I've ever seen. She shoves food down her throat. Maybe I'll get it on tape and post it.

Maran, that Stake Activity looks like fun. We'll have to remember that place and take the family there some summer. As far as Hannah is concerned, she is growing. Let her eat however much she wants. Just make sure it is healthy and she will never be an oinker. She'll go through other times when she is not interested in eating. Its good that she eats her veggies. She's storing up energy for all the walking she is going to be doing soon. Look forward to seeing her in a few weeks. Love ya Mom
Looks like a fun activity. I've done some ice blocking at that park. Where did they get those huge slides?
Allie is an oinker too. Just the other day I was thinking the same thing you were...my daughter is going to be obese if she keeps eating like this. I wonder how she can even fit that much food in her small stomach. But as long as it's healthy food, she'll be fine. We should be grateful our kids are good eaters. Allie will eat almost anything that is put in front of her (she sometimes needs a little coaxing but once she tries it, she normally likes it).
It's so cute to see Hannah doing sign language. Have you taught her any other signs?
Kerrie- I don't know where they got those huge slides. People do it a lot, though, because the people in the house right above the slide told us they charge kids $5 to use their hose for the whole day. Seems like a good deal. I'm guessing it costs more than five dollars to have water running for 3 straight hours.
I taught Hannah the "more" sign awhile ago but as far as other signs go, after watching Stacy's daughter learn "all done" I tried to teach Hannah that so we would know when she was full. She does the sign when we say the the words "all done" but I don't think she has gotten the concept that she is supposed to be done with her food because she'll keep doing the "more" sign and continue eating.
That park is where Thayne and I had our first date. We went sledding at 10pm....and the rest is history!
Hannah is doing so good with all of her baby signs and mimicking! What a smart little girl! As for the eating thing, I agree with mom and Kerrie. It's probably all of that crawling around she has been doing! If anyone has to worry about this, it's me with Ella... and believe me I do.
They had a huge waterslide like that at BYU one time. I think Jake and Kerrie were with us. Taylor and Dallin (and maybe Jarin?) tried it. We should get something like that for a family reunion. I say just keep feeding Hannah like Mom said (as long as it is healthy) and she'll be fine. There will come a time that she may not want to hardly eat anything and you'll worry then. Kids know there limits.
How fun!!! That is so awesome that Hannah does more...I haven't been able to get Montana to learn that one yet. I think Hannah is better at mimmicking. Montana doesn't completely understand the all done when she's done yet either. I have to ask her, "all done?", but she does get that it means done, because she won't do it if she still wants more, but won't eat anymore if she does the sign. Does that make sense?
Every baby eats differently...Montana snacks all day long on different things. She'd probably eat three jars of food or pizza if I offered it to her. Last night, she was so awake for some reason that even after I fed her a jar of food, a biter biscuit and nursed her on both sides, i ended up feeding her a bottle to to get her to relax and go to sleep!
Is she still nursing as well? If not, how did weening (sp?) go???
Stacy- I still nurse twice a day. It's been pretty easy to ween because every month I just take away another feeding. When she turns one I will just feed her once a day, probably until she is about 13 months.....then I will stop completely.
I like Maury Povich, but he's lame compared to Ricki Lake...
Allie's addictions are limited to pineapple, mandarin oranges, strawberries, and cookies (which she calls "tooties"). She still does the "more" sign when she wants another can of mandarin oranges...
Maybe one day, Allie and Hannah will appear on Ricki on a show entitled "Mandarin oranges ruined my life!!".
