Hannah

For those of you who are upset that the last posts have very little to do with Hannah, here are the videos that Maran promised. She is growing up too quick it seems. We love watching her do new things. Also, for those of you interested, it looks like the Paypal scare is going to get fixed. We have got most of our money back. The dilemma now is, do we stop using Paypal, or still use it? If we want to use eBay again, we should continue to use it. When I called the bank, the girl said that we can set up another checking account with no minimum balance so that we can link that to Paypal, and only put money in it when we will use it. That will probably be what we end up doing. Anyway, on to the video. It got cut off at the beginning, but it shows her picking up food and putting it in her mouth. I am not sure you see her picking it up, you will just have to believe us that she did.

Identity Theft

Well I knew it would happen eventually. I tried to take precautions and shred every piece of mail that has to do with a credit card but it didn't work. Last night we looked in our Wells Fargo Bank account to see what kind of money we had in there and we saw a charge for $1400. Scott called customer service but they couldn't help because the charge just said "pending." The lady told him to wait until today so we could see where the charge came from or if it was just a bank mistake. We looked this morning at our account and found that the charge came from Paypal. Scott looked into it further and also found this person was taking money out of our savings account. I believe it is close to $2000 that he/she has racked up over the last few days. We called our bank again and hope to get all the charges disputed, but it would make me VERY angry if I found out that I had to pay for someone else to buy something. I can't stand these people who think they can use someone else's hard earned money to buy things. Identity theft is the number 1 crime in the U.S. and it is so ridiculous. Not only does it make me angry that people are stealing our identity but it also makes me angry that credit card companies/websites/businesses make it so easy to do. I don't know how this person accessed our Paypal account on Ebay but obviously it wasn't that hard. Sometimes I just want to carry cash with me everywhere but then I would probably get mugged and lose my money that way as well (and we couldn't buy things over the internet at all). On a good note, though, this weekend sometime I will post a video of Hannah.

It's Lottery time, and I am not talking about winning millions of dollars. Something maybe more important. Tonight, the balls will start to bounce to see who gets the first 13 picks in this years NBA draft. Tonight is the night that the Kings worked so hard for. Tonight is the reason that they missed so many shots, lost so many rebounds, and never played defense. Tonight is the reason the Kings never won in an overtime game, and the reason Kenny Thomas played so much. Tonight, our hopes rest on a series of illogical number combinations to see if we will become another great team as in years past, or if we will continue to be just OK. Here are the numbers we are looking at...1.8% chance of obtaining the #1 pick, a 2.1% chance of the #2 pick, and a 2.5% chance of snagging the #3 pick. I probably have a better chance of scoring hundreds of thousands of points playing Guitar Hero II on Expert Mode. (I might add, that game is really fun and addictive, and Maran said I can buy an Xbox 360 and that game if certain things get accomplished first:) Nonetheless, I am excited. As much as I love the basketball season, I get just as excited in the off season to see who is drafted, what trades are made, and who signs in free agency. The draft will be deep this year, but a top 3 pick could make or break this franchise. Thanks for putting up with me. We will actually find out in about 45 minutes the order of the draft, so if it is exciting, you can be sure I will write about it here.

Sittin'

Hannah can now sit up!! Just within the last week her muscles have strengthened tremendously and she can now sit on her own for a few minutes. Before we know it, she will be crawling. She's already constantly rolling from her back to her front and vice versa. If I leave her in the room by herself for just a minute, I sometimes find her all the way on the other side of the room when I return. Anyway, just wanted to let you all know how fast she is growing (well I guess not that fast considering a lot of babies can sit up by six months).

A Tribute To Mothers

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers who check this. This is obviously my first Mother's Day being a mom and it is very exciting to me. In this blog, today, I would like to do a tribute to all of my favorite mothers who check this. There is so much to say about all of you, but I will keep it short and sweet for sake of time and space. I would like to share one of my favorite things about each of you as a mother.

First off, to my sisters:
Kerrie-As I've watched you mother Allie, I've noticed what a kind and caring person you are. I've heard you say many times that you loved breastfeeding because it was such a bonding experience. That alone shows me how much you care for Allie. I've seen you cry when she is in pain and I can truly see the love that you have for her every time you look at her. I envy the kind of person you are because you have this overwhelming love for people, especially your daughter.

Hollie(who doesn't check this blog but I would like to tribute her as well)-You work so hard to take care of your four children. I know you are so busy but I can see that your children are what's most important. Whenever we come over to hang out with you at night, it's more important to you to say prayers and read scriptures with them before bed than to play games with us. You have family home evenings with them every week and are truly dedicated to them.

Jennifer- One thing I like about the way that you mother is that you are a mother to your children but you are also a friend to them. I've seen the way that you laugh with them and take them places and do fun activities with them. I really think that you would be a "cool" mother to have and you might not agree with this, but I also think you are so patient with your kids.

Jill(who only checks this once in awhile)-You have such good kids. I haven't gotten to see you much since you've had Sam and Dominic but what I do know is that you have great kids who respect you and David. You are stern with them, but also very loving and kind to them.

And now to my mothers:
Vickie- I haven't gotten to see you much with your own children but I do know that you have been a wonderful step-mother to me. You always put so much work and love into the meals you prepare for us and that to me is very important. They say the best thing you can do for your kids is to have dinner with them around the table. You are also very easy to talk to and seem very interested in what's going on in our lives, which lets me know that you care. I think that is a wonderful trait to have.

Julia(aka mom#2)- I don't know if I've ever known a person more giving than you are. You are constantly giving your time, energy, money, and much more to your children and grandchild. You always put your children first and I know that you love them and Hannah more than words can describe. I don't think I could have asked for a better mother-in-law.

To my own mother-I am so grateful to have you as a mother. You have always been my best friend, even if we don't talk as often as I would like. You've never been one to tell me what to do, but you show me by example. You have always taught me correct principles and you live by them. You always have a lending ear when I need someone to talk to and your kindness and generosity is beyond belief. You don't get jealous if we don't get to spend a lot of time with you and you are so laid back and willing to do whatever is necessary to make your kids happy.

And finally, to my daughter- I know you can't read but I feel I should write something to you because you are the reason I get to celebrate Mother's Day for me this year. You have brought so much joy into my life. I look at you now and think you are an angel. It makes me sad to see you growing up so fast. Someday you might go through phases where you don't want to hang out with me, as a lot of kids do, and it will break my little heart. However, I know that in the end, your family is what matters most, as mine is what matters most to me now. Then, you will have children of your own and hopefully become a wonderful mother. I love you more than I ever thought I could love someone(besides my husband).

To Teresa, Stacy, Jessica and any other mother that checks this, I haven't gotten the chance to really see your mothering skills but I can tell you are all great mothers by the way that you talk about your little ones. Happy Mother's Day to everyone! I love you all!

Happy 7 Months!

Happy 7 months to Hannah!! I always have to blog when she turns a new month for some reason. I'm sorry she's pretty much the only thing I blog about....I'm sure some of you get bored of it...but she's pretty much the only thing going on in my life besides school. Every month I also have to take a picture of her because I have this frame that has pictures from birth to one year on it so I have to add a new picture each month to it. It's amazing how much she has changed since birth. This picture below was taken at the hospital. She was such a chub when she was first born. She doesn't even really look like the same baby. Anyway, a few things she has learned this month that I am not a big fan of are; 1. spitting her food out and getting it everywhere(including in my face) 2. crying whenever she is left in the room by herself, even if it's just for 10 seconds 3. And the last which is the most sad is that she pushes you away if you try to touch her face (even when you give her kisses). I think she learned to hate having her face touched because I am constantly trying to get goobers off or suction her runny nose. She absolutely hates it and pushes me away and screams. It's very sad. However, she is still a wonderful baby and we love her sooo much. These have been the best 7 months of our lives.

No More Peas Please!

Well this week we fed Hannah peas for the first time. She hated them with a passion. Unfortunately I was not there to witness her hatred of peas but Scott told me that every time he would give her a bite of peas she would gag, which finally caused her to throw up all the food she had in her little belly. I can't say I blame her though. I think peas are definitely one of my least favorite vegetables. They are disgusting. Sometimes I can eat them if they are stuffed in casseroles or mixed with spaghetti, but plain, they make me want to barf as well. Why are some vegetables so gross plain? I wish that pizza, pasta, hamburgers, etc. were good for you. I always feel bad when I don't have some sort of vegetable with my dinner but I usually have to choke them down when I do. Well, that's not true if they are seasoned or dipped in ranch, cheese, have little marsh mellows on top, etc, etc. The only ones I can eat plain are asparagus, french style green beans, corn and occasionally broccoli and even then it's still hard for me. Scott and I have recently been talking about almost becoming vegetarians (by "almost" I mean we would eat meat maybe just once or twice a week). We pretty much eat meat with every meal now. I know I could not go too long without a nice juicy hamburger or steak so we could not become complete vegetarians. However, if we did try this out, that would mean I would have to eat more vegetables. I sound like a little child saying that I hate vegetables plain but I really think almost everyone does; they just don't say it (you can tell by the way we are constantly adding fat to them to make them taste better). I only hope someday I will learn to love this food that can save my life.

Vacation

Our trip to California was very fun!! We only wish it could have lasted longer. Being there made us realize that we want to move back to California. We like Utah a lot and we will miss the friends we have made if we move, but we really enjoy California. Even if it's not at the end of this year, we would still like to move back there when Scott graduates. Anyway, we had a lot of fun on our trip. After looking through my pictures, though, I realized I didn't get pictures of everyone. I wish I would have gotten pictures of Kerrie, David and Jill, Stacy and her family, more of Grandpa Greg and Grandma Julia, and more of Grandma and Grandpa Price. Next time we will have to get more pictures of ya'll. Anyway, here are a few of my favorite pictures from our trip. The first day we got there we played with Kerrie and Allie, mostly in my mom's backyard. She has a beautiful backyard that you could get lost in.

The second day we were there, we took Hannah in my mom's pool for the first time. I think the cold water scared her at first but she eventually got used to it.

The third day we went to New Hogan Lake with Scott's parents, his brother David, and my dad and Vickie to try out the new boat. Hannah wore a life vest, just in case. She seemed to like riding on the boat and even fell asleep for a little while.

On Sunday we went to visit Great Grandpa Sprague (aka, Scott's grandpa). It was his first time meeting Hannah.

Monday we went shopping with Grandma Julia and fed the ducks at Elk Grove Park. The geese kind of scare me, though, because they can be violent when it comes to getting food.
That night we had a nice meal prepared for us by my mom and Dave, in celebration of our 3rd year anniversary.

We might have to make these trips more often:) Today we are unpacking and Scott and I start up school again. We're already counting down the days until our next vacation.
